Big Brother comes to Bodrum

Security in Turkey tourist destinations have never been an issue, resort locations are generally safe as most people are usually there to have a good time.

Some people may still want to know about how safe the neighbourhood they are moving to is, so Expats moving to Altinkum can rest easy as there are plans in the pipeline to install a high-tech surveillance system for the area.

There will be a total of 16 cameras set up in and around Altinkum, as well as along its main roads, as part of a phased installation of the mobile electronic system integration (MOBESI) for the resort area.

The fibre-optic system will also have an integrated vehicle plate identification system scanning all lanes on the Mavişehir and Akbük roads so the police can identity vehicles suspected of being used for crime.

According to the chairman of the Bodrum Security Services Development Foundation, the cameras will help to cut crime in the resort.

Now residents can sleep easy…
