Data released has shown that Turkish exports were up 7.3 percent in May compared with the same period last year to reach 11.8 billion USD in total.

Figures released by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) show that in the first five months of 2012, Turkey has exported a total of 59.8 billion USD worth of goods to foreign buyers and countries, resulting in a total percentage increase of 10.3 percent over the same period last year.

The last 12 months in total has seen Turkish exports reach figures amounting to 140 billion USD – a record high for Turkey. Turkey has high hopes for this year to reach year round exports of 150 billion USD as Turkey looks to balance the economic growth and Current Account Deficit problems with a plan to stabilise growth into a manageable size in the near future.
