Beer sector in Turkey adds 1.6 billion euros to Turkish budget

A new report has found that the beer sector in Turkey added 1.6 billion euros to Turkey’s public revenues in 2010.

The report, titled: “Contribution of the Beer Sector to the Turkish Economy” found that this was an increase of 23 percent over the previous year revenues of 1.3 billion in 2009. The report was conducted and made by the Beer and Malt producers Association (BMUD) and prepared and delivered by Ernst & Young.

The figure is calculated as the total of all revenues once corporate tax, value added tax, special consumption tax, social security contributions and taxes on wages had been paid by the sector.

The total figure at the end of the report, the public revenues collected from the beer sector in Turkey is much higher to other European countries, the report found.

As Turkey grows even further, the value of the beer sector could and probably will, be even more next year round.
