Turkey’s Science, Industry & Technology Minister: Nihat Ergun has stated that Turkey and Azerbaijan should work more together in order to increase the current trade between the two countries.

Azerbaijan and Turkey currently have a $1.65 billion trade volume between the two countries, following a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Communication and Information Technology Minister Ali Abbasov, Ergun said: “We must increase it. We have to intensify talks, especially between our two ministers.”

Abbasov is currently in Turkey on a visit to Ankara and meetings have been set up to discuss the current relationship between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Ergun has also stated that the Turkish and Azerbaijan governments must work closer in developing more cooperation between universities and industrial organisations. Turkey and Azerbaijan have a close relationship due to close proximity and Abbasov stated that Azerbaijan would like to take advantage of Turkey’s experience in the ministry for science.

With Turkey ever growing and expanding, the country is looking for more countries to expand and grow and trade with. An increase in trade between Turkey and Azerbaijan will be mutually beneficial for both countries and see financial gains and increase in growth and development.
