Turkish Prime Minister: Turkey safe from Europe crisis

With the whole of Europe facing a crisis over the weakening Euro, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has come out to say that Turkey won’t be affected by the economic issues facing Europe.

Erdoğan said that the Turkish economy is strong enough to deal with the future challenges that could arise, he said: “The crisis in Europe will not even touch us and will pass this time. We are stronger this time.” Erdoğan was speaking before departing on a visit to Azerbaijan said that no one should be worried over the troubles that are facing European and US economies.

The Prime Minister also warned the Turkish people against wasting away their money with overspending. This came after a notice of caution from Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan who said if another “earthquake” hits the European economies then Turkey could find itself being affected by the overflow of that.

In the last year the Turkish economy experienced unprecedented growth with the World Bank recently calling the Turkish economy an example to follow for other countries. The Turkish income per capita also recently rose to the 6th best in the world.

Erdoğan had a response for the people who have concerns over the recent weakening of the Turkish Lira against the Dollar, saying: “Those who were complaining about the lira getting too strong are now complaining of the lira getting weaker. Don’t worry. We will find the right balance.”
