Turkish Prime Minister to visit Azerbaijan

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is to visit Azerbaijan with an agenda of hot topics to discuss such as Nabucco pipeline project, mutual visa exemptions, facilities for businessmen, and Nagorno-Karabakh issues.

Erdoğan will discuss the various topics with Azerbaijani President İlham Aliyev. The Nabucco pipeline, a multi-billion-dollar project between the countries to export natural gas from the Caspian Sea to Turkey needs to be discussed as Azerbaijan and Turkey seem to be at odds over the project.

An agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkey was almost signed in May 2010, Elshad Nasirov, the vice president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, or SOCAR said: “but some minor and some important things prevented the two parties from agreeing and finalizing it.

The meeting in Azerbaijan will be the second trip abroad for the Turkish Prime Minister since the parliamentary elections in July.
