Nine new Universities to open in Istanbul in next year

With 157 Universities already located in Istanbul, the city has unveiled new plans for a further 9 Universities to open within the next year to bring the total to 166 Universities in Istanbul.

Currently there are about 895,000 students who took the Transition to Higher Education Examination (YGS) in the year 2010. However with only 700,000 places available for courses in Istanbul, the introduction of 9 new universities will make it easier for the city to accommodate everyone who wishes to study in higher education – giving them a bigger chance of finding an available course.

The lively city of Istanbul is currently seen as one of the dynamic cities in Turkey, and the introduction of these new universities will do wonders for the ever-growing property in Istanbul market, with potential investors seeing a great opportunity to invest in Istanbul.

The new universities range from: State University Bursa Technical University (BTÜ) which will offer mechanical engineering and chemistry courses in the 2011-2012 academic year, to Sabahattin Zaim University, which is a private University. Kemerburgaz University plans to offer 90% scholarships to all 810 students that it can cater for.
