Antalya Airport declared as Europe’s best airport for 2010

Airports Council International has chosen Antalya Airport as the best airport in Europe for 2010 in the size range of handling between 10-25 million passengers a year.

Manager of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Bilal Ekşi said: “The Antalya Airport, which hosted 10 million passengers in the first six months of this year has achieved a remarkable record with more than 900 planes landing and taking off per day.”

Antalya has seen considerable development over the last 10 years with the property in Turkey booming and the rise in tourism to Antalya. Since 2002 the number of passengers the airport has carried has risen from 10 million per year to 20 million per year. The property in Antalya market has seen extensive growth with foreign nationals investing in properties in Antalya to benefit from the lower costs compared to European rivals.

As Antalya airport continues to grow and win awards, Ekşi said: “I sincerely trust that ICF Airports (the airport’s operator) will continue their work without compromising their quality of service, and that it will accrue more awards in addition to prizes that it has won worldwide.” Antalya airport is currently responsible for carrying around a third of tourists who visit Turkey.
