25 new shopping malls to be built in Turkey

This is great news for all shopaholics out there; if you are in two minds about moving to Turkey because you think your favourite UK shops won’t have branches in Turkey then think again.

Cosmopolitan cities such as Istanbul and Ankara already have global retail giants lining their high streets so this time, major resort towns like Bodrum, Antalya and Fethiye may be in line for new shopping malls. Meaning whichever town you buy a Turkey property, you might be getting your favourite retailer in your local mall very soon.

There are a total of 266 shopping malls operating in Turkey and they recorded a total turnover of 27.8 billion USD in 2010; 2011 is predicted to be an even bigger year with 35 billion USD expected.

The new malls scheduled to be built is good news whichever way you look at it; as an Expat living in Turkey, it gives variety and chances are your favourite UK retailer will  have a shop there.

It is also good news for locals because it will create around new 35,000 jobs and helps the Turkish economy as a whole.
